Product Overview

KE Fibertec develops and markets three main TBV product groups, which can all be supplied in three different geometries. In passive low impulse systems the air diffuses through a permeable material. In high impulse systems air is distributed solely through holes ( KE Inject® System ) or nozzles ( KE Direjet® System ). The hybrid models are a combination of the passive low impulse systems and the lasered inject holes or DireJet nozzles.

KE Direjet Systems

The KE - DireJet System® is made of a coated or permeable textile material with rows of conical nozzles for 100% active directional delivery. The conical nozzles limit the induction of room air around the individual air jet, whereby the velocity in the jet decreases relatively slowly compared to the KE - DireJet System. As a result of this, both the throw length and thermal penetration length are extended considerably for the KE-DireJet System®.

Typical airflow & applications

KE Fibertec is the only distributor of textile ducts that offers five different nozzle sizes Ø12, Ø18, Ø24, Ø48 and Ø60mm. The flexibility in the choice of nozzle size offers great benefits as the KE-DireJet System® can then be used in virtually every type of premises that requires mixing ventilation, even in extremely large premises, such as high-bay warehouses or large sports arenas.

Ducts are often used with different nozzle types and flow models in the same duct. This allows you to achieve the flow pattern and air intensity in the various zones exactly how you want. The conical nozzles are fitted in holes made of coated polyester fabric and are secured using a locking ring.

The nozzles can be supplied with nozzle plugs to block the airflow temporarily in certain zones. This is used most often in cases where the system's features need to be changed for a period of time, for instance, if the premises' use changes. The conical nozzles are fitted in holes made of coated polyester fabric and are secured using a locking ring. The latest development of the KE-DireJet System® is called the KE-DireJet Vario. This is a multi-adjustable nozzle that allows the direction of the air jet to be freely adjusted up to 30 degrees in any direction relative to the nozzle's centreline.

KE Inject Systems®

The key difference between the KE - InJect System® and KE - DireJet System® is induction, ie the ability to entrain room air. The KE - Inject System® comprises groups of small holes in the textile, resulting in an induction of room air on a huge scale around the jet. This means that the velocity rate in the jet is reduced more quickly than for the KE - DireJet System® but the throw length and penetration length are also reduced.

Principal features

Available Configurations

Typical airflow & applications

The KE - Inject System® comprises small holes in coated, airtight material. The delivery of air through the holes causes induction of the room air on a large scale, resulting in a relatively rapid reduction in the air velocity rate in the jet compared to the KE - DireJet System®

The Inject system is specially suitable for industrial premises with typical room height of 10 - 20 feet where the need is for different supply air temperatures, ie heating, cooling or just replacement air.

In order to achieve a uniform and optimum air distribution throughout the whole room, the entire length of the inject duct is used as one long diffuser ensuring that air delivery will not be limited to particular zones. This system will significantly increase the ability to induce and mix room air better than traditional ventilation systems, and without the associated draft issues.

With the introduction of KE laser cut hole technology, our systems are able to combine the advantages of a passive low impulse system more active by adding rows of orifice holes to divert the air away from the near zone right under the fabric duct.

KE Fibertec has well documented measurements of throw lengths etc relating to specific patterns of hole design.

KE Low Impulse Systems

The KE - Low Impulse System® is an ideal solution for the delivery and distribution of cooled air, particularly suitable for hygien, comfort and temperature control. KE Fibertec's textile based low impulse systems are woven from Trevira CS polyester yarn, and the textile surface acts as a fine mesh, allowing the supply of air to pass through the surface at a very low uniform discharge velocity which is normally less than 0.1 m/s. The KE - Low Impulse System® is produced using round ducts ( Ø )

Principal features

Available Configurations

Typical airflow & applications

The KE - Low Impulse System® will distribute and filter cooled air completely without drafts. The air slowly diffuses through the permeable surface and the excellent air distribution ensures a good working environment free of drafts even in cold rooms.

The system is particularly well suited for the food industry, pharmaceutical industry, electronics industry and very relevant to applications that require high cooling and ventilation loads.

Air flow is based on the displacement principle, in that cold air displaces warm air and convective currents over heat sources are very important. The system will only work if the fundamental physical laws are obeyed, so the system cannot be used for heating purposes. However, when sized properly it is possible to cool by up to 63 BTU / sqft floor area without drafts, and the system is condensation free even at a humidity rate over 90% RH.
Great care is taken when designing a system based on passive thermal displacement to take into account heat producing elements in the subject room.

The specially designed KE-Trevira CS materials are woven in our our weaving mill and developed for long term durability. Even after repeated washing, permeability remains uniform with a maximum shrinkage rate of 0.5%.

KE Interior® Systems

Fresh air is a prerequisite for a good indoor climate. Problems of sickness, allergies and irritations due to bad air and high air velocitiesis estimated to cost the Danish society more than DKK 30 billion every year. This can be completely eliminated with a KE - Interior® System
The KE - Interior® System is available either as half-round or quarter-round fabric ducts in a design adjustable to all types of rooms

Principal features

Available Configurations

Typical airflow & applications

The unique design ensures an optimum air distribution regardless of ventilation requirements. Even at minimum ventilation in systems with variable air quantity (VAV), the ducts will keep a nice appearance without sagging. The fresh air is delivered slowly and draft-free through the textile surface and into the room. With the newly developed D-Lite Alu suspension system fitted for all types of ceilings and the wide selection of colors the KE-Interior® System is suitable for all types of buildings - new or old. The system does not generate any noise and the soft fabric ducts even provide a sound-absorbing effect in the room, making the system ideal for applications such as sound studios that have requirements for 25 dBA sound pressure.

The KE-Interior® System is produced using half-round (D) or quarter-round (1/2D) ducts. These systems can ONLY be used for cooling purposes or for distributing large volumes of isothermal air, as warm air will settle under the ceiling like a blanket. When this happens, the supply air is short circuited, which means a waste of energy.

The KE-Interior® System is woven from Trevira CS polyester yarn, and the textile surface acts as a fine mesh, allowing the supply air to pass through the surface at very low, uniform discharge velocity, normally less than 0.1 m/s.

KE Hybrid High Impulse Systems

Hybrid systems comprise low impulse ducts which are made active by using holes or nozzles. As a result, the low impulse principle is combined with the high impulse principle, whereby part of the air volume in the system is distributed away from the near zone under the duct. A major benefit of this new technology is that a system can be manufactured to be passive in some zones and active in other zones of the same system.

Principal features

Available Configurations

Typical airflow & applications

KE Fibertec uses laser technology to facilitate production of more advanced product versions, where passive low impulse systems can be made more active by laser cutting a number of small holes or inserting nozzles into the textile material. The more holes or nozzles, the more active becomes and will be referred to as a hybrid textile duct.

KE Fibertec markets two products for textile based hybrid ventilation: the KE - Inject Hybrid System and the KE - DireJet Hybrid System. These systems are produced in the form of round ( Ø ), half-round ( D ) or quarter-round ( 1/2D ) ducts.

Hybrid systems are absolutely ideal for ensuring that optimum air distribution is achieved in systems with both cooling and heating requirements, as a textile duct with holes or nozzles gives the air energy in the form of movement. In essence, the job of a hybrid system is to shift part of the air volume away from the area under the duct. Compared to a low impulse system, a greater cooling load per running metre can therefore be added without generating a draft under the duct.

Hybrid systems create exceptional flexibility and results. Major benefits of this new technology enable us to design a system for you which can be passive in some zones and more or less active in other zones.

Displacement Ventilation Systems

The KE - Displacement Ventilation System has been shown to offer a ventilation efficiency of about four times the effectiveness of traditional mixing systems when introducing fresh air into a target zone, whether the space is occupied or not. For sensitive applications, displacement ventilation can prevent the spread of airborne infections and contaminates, and are ideally suited for semi and non-critical areas such as hospital wards, staff areas and canteens.

Principal features

Applications

Typical airflow

KE - Displacement Ventilation Systems addresses both indoor air quality and energy issues by supplying clean fresh air directly into the occupied area at low level, at the correct temperature. The area's warm contaminated air is shifted upwards ( hence displacement ) for extraction through the exhaust air system.

In general, displacement ventilation systems operate at both low velocity and very low pressure. This delivers an immediate additional benefit of low operational noise combined with a minimal draught within the occupied area.

In the temperature gradient associated with displacement ventilation, the ceiling-level air temperature is higher than that of the occupied zone. The first effect of this is that the supply temperature can be higher than that of traditional mixing systems. This higher air temperature means longer spells of free-cooling, reducing energy use through the lifetime of the system. A higher return air temperature also renders the system ideal for use with an air handling unit [ AHU ]. There is a consequent dramatic reduction in the heating energy needed to meet room conditions after the energy recovery device.

In some cases, particularly if energy recovery is via a thermal wheel, the heating energy requirement can be removed altogether. There are also bonus benefits: the higher supply temperature enables free cooling to be available for much of the year.
